Recently Tony Woodhams, managing director of Centaur Global announced the launch of the world’s first regulated hedge fund, purely focused on sports trading.
The fund, the Centaur Galileo Managed Sports Fund is an absolute return hedge fund, regulated by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission.
Centaur Galileo will trade in particular sports, such as football, racing and tennis using the trading strategies and techniques that the Centaur Group have perfected. The sports trading will take place on betting exchanges like Betfair & Betdaq, trading pre-game and also, the ever growing market for in-running trading.

This will not work in the long run because if one party manages all investors money and places the bet, eventually the bet size will increase as investors grow and books wont allow such big bets, especially if they are winning at the rate they claim.
